Rep. Heck offers amendment to the Student Success Act
June 19, 2013
Rep. Heck's amendment allows local educational agencies to use Title I, II, and III funding under the bill to support dual enrollment and early college high schools. The amendment will help prepare students for success in postsecondary education by reducing the need for remediation in college and the workplace. It will also allow school districts to recruit teachers and provide professional development to teach dual credit and dual enrollment courses to secondary school students. Finally, the amendment will help lower the cost of a post-secondary education for students.
