Rep. Denham honors Human Trafficking Prevention Month - January 2013
January 7, 2013
Good evening. I'm Congressman Jeff Denham, your Valley representative for the Tenth Congressional District.
I would like to take a moment to thank Without Permission and everyone in attendance for supporting this worthy cause.
This month is Human Trafficking Prevention Month and is a chance to rededicate ourselves to putting an end to one of the greatest human rights abuses of our time.
Human trafficking exists all over the United States, and sadly, California is no exception.
As the parents of two young children, my wife Sonia and I truly empathize with this cause.
The sexual exploitation of young Americans needs to stop now, and I applaud Without Permission's efforts to prevent human trafficking and offer support to survivors and their families here in the Valley.
I will support more comprehensive reforms in Congress to strengthen our nation's ability to combat human trafficking, and raising awareness is an important step in that direction.
Today and every day, I encourage everyone in our community to work together to join the cause and help raise awareness. With your assistance, we can begin to help those who so desperately need it.
