Bilirakis Supports Continued Funding for Veterans and Members of the Reserve and Guard
October 3, 2013
Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL), Vice-Chairman of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, today spoke on the House Floor in support of continued funding for our veterans and members of the Reserve and Guard.
"I remain committed to ending this government shutdown and fighting to protect the American people," said Bilirakis. "I have joined my House colleagues, voting multiple times to keep the government open and to make sure that Members of Congress face the same consequences that hardworking Americans across this country face. It is my sincere hope that the Senate and the President will come together as soon as possible to join the House in a civil and open dialogue. We need to enact a fair solution that serves all Americans, particularly our nation's heroes who have so bravely served us."
Last week, Congress passed and President Obama signed into law H.R. 3210, the Pay Our Military Act, which appropriated funding for active duty troops during the government shutdown.
