Representative Doug Lamborn was first elected to represent Colorado's 5th district in 2006. He currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where he is on the Air and Land Forces Subcommitee and the Readiness Subcommittee In addition, Representative Lamborn sits on the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, on which he is a Ranking Member of the Disabilities Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee, an unusual honor for a new Member Representative Lamborn also serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources, where he is on two Subcommittees, the Subcommittee on Water and Power, and the Subcommittee on National Parks Forests and Public Lands.
Throughout his career in public service, Representative Lamborn has been a leader on pro-family and small business issues, a strong advocate for our men and women defending our nation in the military, an advocate for lower taxes, immigration reform, reducing government spending and protecting the Second Amendment.
Prior to Representative Lamborn's election to the U.S. House, he served in the Colorado State Legislature in the House and Senate from 1995 through 2006. Representative Lamborn received both his bachelor's degree in journalism and his law degree from the University of Kansas, and has been an attorney in private general practice in Colorado Springs for 20 years, emphasizing business and real estate.
Representative Lamborn is married to Jeanie, his wife of 30 years. Together they have raised five children, including one daughter who recently married and four sons.
