Congressman Gibbs Questions Top Official on Keystone Pipeline
March 28, 2012
Chairman Bob Gibbs: "Last week, President Obama vowed to 'break through the bureaucratic hurdles' to 'expedite' the Keystone XL Pipeline. But yesterday in my Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee hearing, a top official from the Administration told me that the permits submitted by TransCanada were suspended and would need to be re-submitted. It is time for the President to stop talking out of both sides of his mouth and truly cut through the red tape that slows projects like the Keystone XL pipeline, which alone could bring the US thousands of jobs and transport 830,000 barrels of oil per day."
