Reining In Excessive Spending on Federal Government Conferences
July 19, 2013
Congressman Farenthold's bill to rein in excessive spending on lavish government conferences will be voted on by the House of Representatives this week. The bill, H.R. 313, caps what can be spent on conference travel, and makes senior leadership of federal agencies accountable requiring them to sign off on big conferences. It also increases transparency and requires federal agencies to publicly post detailed information about their conference spending.
