Congressman Farenthold Questions Whether Internet Sales Tax Will Burden Taxpayers
March 13, 2014
Wednesday, Congressman Blake Farenthold (R-TX) participated in a House Judiciary Committee hearing examining five proposed Internet sales tax solutions. The hearing gave a panel of witnesses the opportunity to present a proposal regarding the Internet sales tax issue, with the hearing participants discussing the merits and shortcomings of each approach. During his questioning, Congressman Farenthold expressed his concern that giving states new authority to enforce existing laws would increase the burden on taxpayers. "It sure smells like a new tax to those of us who pay it," stated Farenthold.
