WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) today released the following statement after the House passed HR 2667, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act; and HR 2668, the Fairness for American Families Act:
“If the President wants to continue to talk about his health care law in terms of fairness, then he’s got a lot of explaining to do. There is nothing fair about deciding arbitrarily which sections of his law he chooses to enforce, and there is nothing fair about giving businesses a break while making hardworking American families pay the price.
“This law is unworkable – and that’s not fair to anyone in this country. That’s why today the House has taken bipartisan action to delay both the employer mandate and the individual mandate. If the President is going to change his law, he should sign a bill making those changes in a proper, constitutional manner – through the Congress. And if he wants to cut businesses slack when it comes to complying with his law, then he should give the same relief to the hardworking individuals and families all across this country who desperately need it.
“We call on the Senate to join us and pass these bipartisan bills, and we call on the President to sign them – because that’s the fair thing to do.”
