WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after the Obama administration admitted to targeting conservative groups with politically-motivated IRS investigations:
“When American citizens come together to exercise their First Amendment rights, they should not have to live in fear of repressive government interference. The Obama administration's admission they intentionally targeted conservative groups is reprehensible. These are moms, dads, neighbors and friends united coming together to exercise their freedom of speech, and to subject them to politically-motivated IRS investigations is wrong. The continued oversight work in the House on this shameful episode is critical to holding Washington accountable to taxpayers and protecting them from an over-reaching government."
