WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) released the following statement today in support of the House resolution to place Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his failure to comply with investigations into the failed “Fast and Furious” operation.
“I wish that this outcome could have been avoided, but the family of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry deserves answers and the American people deserve the truth.
“Today the House did what it had to do to uphold the rule of law and enforce the kind of transparency the American people expect from their government. No man is above the law, and that includes the highest lawyer in the land. The Justice Department had every opportunity to comply with inquiries over the past eight months and failed to responsibly do so. We must get to the bottom of this tragedy to ensure that something like this never happens again.”
