Pence Praises Action Taken By Bipartisan Group of State Governors |
|||
Washington, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the American Energy Solutions Group, issued the following statement today after 20 Governors sent a joint letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requesting that EPA halt its plan to regulate carbon dioxide under the Clean Air Act:
"In January, thirty states experienced rising unemployment and the national unemployment rate still hovers around 10 percent. Families, in the city and on the farm, continue to struggle. They anxiously wait for their elected leaders to take responsible action to get our economy moving again. The last thing the American people need is a back door national energy tax imposed by the EPA.
"Our state and local leaders know best the challenges facing our families and small businesses. I am encouraged that governors from both parties called on the EPA to end its heavy-handed attempt at regulating carbon dioxide. These governors join House Republicans, and countless Americans, in calling on President Obama to withdraw this dangerous proposal and begin to focus on policies that will help create jobs."
