  • Until his capture in 2002, Binalshibh was the lead operative of a post-9/11 plot directed by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to hijack aircraft and crash them into Heathrow International Airport in the United Kingdom.

  • Was slated to be one of the 9/11 hijacker pilots. He and Mohammed Atta traveled to Karachi, where they met with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

  • Pledged loyalty to Osama bin Laden and readily accepted his proposal to martyr himself in an operation against the U.S.

  • Key facilitator for the 9/11 attacks. During the eight months before the attacks, served as the primary messenger between the hijackers in the United States and al-Qaeda's leadership in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
