WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after a bicameral, bipartisan group of legislators announced the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which will improve America’s workforce development system.
“Right now, too many Americans are struggling to find jobs, bring home paychecks, and pay their bills. That’s why this bipartisan legislation – which will enhance opportunities in the workforce, streamline duplicative programs, and increase modernized skills training – will help people all across this country get back to work. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act will provide opportunity to those who need it – moms and dads trying to make ends meet; college graduates searching for their first jobs; and middle-class Americans in need of the invaluable training programs that will help them enter the 21st-century workforce. I commend the tremendous leaders – including Chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, John Kline (R-MN) and Chair of the House Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Training, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) – who have advanced legislation that will create jobs, expand opportunities, and bring security to Americans all across this country.”
