M.D. (LA) Red County Today, the American Medical Association announced its support for H.R. 3200, a health care overhaul that includes a new, government-run bureaucracy in health care. This new system will lead to increased costs for patients and taxpayers and stifle innovation. As a former cardio surgeon, I am strongly opposed to this legislation. Todd Akin (MO) Smart Girl Politics America’s legal tradition is the most principled, reliable, and open of any society in history. The corner stone of this tradition is the U.S. Constitution, which William Gladstone, four-time British Prime Minister, called “the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.” By its nature, it is an enduring document. Joe Pitts (PA) Pajamas Media This week, House committees are scheduled to begin consideration of the largest piece of health care legislation in decades. I have been critical of the health care reform proposals being offered by Democrats because of the so-called public option, which will crowd out private insurance providers and eventually lead to government-owned health care. Government-owned health care will place bureaucrats in Washington in charge of your health care options. This is wrong. Health care decisions must be made by you and your doctor. Read the rest here. A Government Takeover of Health Care Is a Mistake by Rep. Buck McKeon (CA) The Flash Report Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats have taken another discouraging step in the direction of a full government takeover of our nation’s health care system with the recent introduction of their federally-run health care plan.
