WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today after the House passed the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013 (WRRDA):
"America's ports and waterways are an integral part of what makes this country great. Our ports are the source of $1.4 trillion in trade, and our waterways bring us the goods and products that Americans use all across the country. Millions of Americans have jobs that depend on our water infrastructure resources. In today's tough economic times, Congress has a responsibility to promote growth, and that's why I applaud today's passage of the bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013. This legislation will bring common-sense reform to our water infrastructure by cutting bureaucratic red tape, promoting fiscal responsibility, and saving taxpayers money. I commend Chairman Shuster and my colleagues on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for their tireless work on this timely and important legislation."
