House Republicans are Bloggers Today

House Republicans took to the blogs today as they unveiled America Speaking Out. Please see excerpts from our blogging Members of Congress today below:

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (CA)

Washington isn't listening. The disconnect between the American people and the agenda being advanced in Washington is growing by the day.

When Americans have spoken up, their voices have fallen on deaf ears. Political expedience and partisan allegiances have repeatedly trumped the priorities of the American people.

Rep. Tom Price (GA)
Rep. Tom Price (GA) NRO Our nation needs to chart a new course in accord with the freedoms espoused by our Founding Fathers and codified in our Constitution, and respectful of the wishes and the will of the American people. It is time the voices of the American people became the most powerful in Washington and time for the ideological ambitions of the liberal majority to take a permanent back seat. Republicans are stepping forward to offer an updated and interactive approach to governing that begins with politicians’ engaging with and listening to the American people. Fundamental to our collective cause will be a new online forum called AmericaSpeakingOut.com http:/corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NjRjMDI4Y2IwNDE1ZmRjODU1NDUxNTY1MTg2NmU0OGM=">NRO

America’s Right
There is a lot of frustration and disappointment with Washington these days. Americans want lawmakers to focus on the essentials — an economy creating new jobs and high living standards and national security to protect us from a variety of threats. Instead, this Democratic Congress has pushed a government takeover of health care, a failed stimulus package, and other misguided legislation like “Cash for Caulkers.”

Our country faces serious problems — mounting government debt, wide open borders, and threats from dangerous and elusive enemies.

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (TX)
RedState
With congressional disapproval ratings wallowing between 65%-75%, it’s clear that Americans have lost faith in the bond between themselves and their elected leaders. As a conservative, I sense that Americans no longer trust Washington to promote solutions to our nation’s challenges that do not mortgage our children’s futures. What’s most frustrating is the reality that Washington refuses to have a real conversation with the American people about the direction of our nation. Many Americans believe that leaders in Washington have lost touch with those who sent them there – the people. If you believe, as I do, that it is past time to put ‘We the People’ back in our nation’s driver’s seat, I invite you to join America Speaking Out.

Rep. Charles Boustany (LA)

As a heart surgeon for nearly 20 years, listening was the single most important tool available to me.  I learned from the patient what symptoms they experienced, their history and their concerns.  Unfortunately, Congress and the President repeatedly fail to listen to the American people.

Rep. Scott Garrett (NJ)
Conservatives With Attitude!
The American people are desperate to be heard and they are becoming more active and more vocal. They have gathered together in groups and held public demonstrations to voice their concerns, yet the Democrats continue to ignore the will of the people. A recent CBS News poll shows approval ratings for Speaker Pelosi are just 11% and the approval rating for President Obama, according to a Rasmussen poll, continues to fall, hitting a new low at 44%.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA)
Pajamas Media
We owe it to our children and grandchildren to stop these spending policies that weaken our economy at the expense of China and other powers. We cannot let this problem fester any longer. Action must be taken before the problem becomes unmanageable.

Rep. Bill Shuster (PA)
Liberty Pundits
Take a moment to read a newspaper, a blog, or watch the news and you’ll see that Americans across the country want this Congress to stop the historic and irresponsible levels of spending going on today and focus on creating jobs and economic security.  Instead of listening to the will of the people, this Congress has shut out the sound of a growing chorus of voices shouting “Stop!” only to explode our deficits, undertake a government takeover of health care, and habitually ignore our near-ten percent unemployment rate.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (VA)

Human Events
The Democratic-controlled Congress has responded to the outcry of concern by the American people by raising taxes, increasing federal spending at an unsustainable pace, allowing our national debt to spiral out of control, and passing legislation that gives the federal government more control of our daily lives. They have spent trillions on bailouts and stimulus packages to help grow our economy, but all it has done is increase our debt and the size of the federal bureaucracy while leaving our nation’s unemployment rate hovering around 10%.

Now is America’s time to speak out.  Will you join us?  President Eisenhower once said, “Politics should be the full-time career of no one; and the part-time career of everyone.”  Through AmericaSpeaksOut.com, you can lend your voice to a growing national movement to restore the will of the American people in Washington D.C.

Rep. Greg Walden (OR)
Red County
There’s a serious disconnect between what the American people need and want, and what Washington is delivering. The American people have been perfectly clear. They want their government to stop the wasteful spending and borrowing, and instead let the private sector do what it does best: create jobs. Yet all they see is a spending binge with no end in sight that is setting our country on the path to Greece.

Americans are more engaged than ever before, eagerly delving deep into complicated public policy and even debating the merits of parliamentary procedures like “deem and pass.” They’re connected. They get it. And there’s no excuse for Congress to ignore them any longer.

Rep. Candice Miller (MI)
Smart Girl Nation
Americans want to cut spending.  They want a strong focus on new job creation.  And they want policies put forward that will help grow the economy instead of growing the size of government. Instead of listening to those pleas from the American people, this Democrat Congress has exploded the deficit, spent a year focused on a government takeover of health care, and continues to push for a Cap and Trade national energy tax that will expand government, raise energy prices dramatically and destroy jobs, particularly in states like my home state of Michigan.

Rep. Jim Jordan (OH)
Right Wing News
I hear your frustrations every day -- when I stop by your business, bump into you at the gas station or even on my Facebook page. You are tired of more spending and you have more unemployed friends and family members than ever before. Simply put, Congress' to-do list doesn't match up with yours.

It is time to change the priorities of Washington and introduce a new way of doing business -- a business where the American people drive the agenda in Congress.

Rep. Mike Pence (IN)

We have to show the American people that we know what’s at stake this year. In the face of failed leadership by Congressional Democrats, House Republicans must produce a vision for a better America that will return our national government to the common sense and common values of everyday Americans. And we’re looking to the American people to help us.

Rep. Jack Kingston (GA)
The Washington Examiner
In the age of Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Flickr, information spreads like a wildfire. The Internet’s limitless ability to forever alter the political and social landscape is proven with each passing day. With it, those vested with the honor to represent the people to their government must also adapt. We have been given an unprecedented connection to the American people and it would be irresponsible to let it go to waste.

Rep. Bill Cassidy (LA)

Fox News Opinion
This disconnect – the chasm between what the American people want and what Washington does – has left America weaker, poorer, and less free.

It is time to bridge the divide. It is time to restore the People’s rightful place at the head of their government. To do that, the American people must speak and their elected representatives must listen.

Rep. John Shimkus (IL)
Accuracy in Media
House Republicans, beginning today, have launched a website – America Speaking Out – that gives the American people, the real tax payers, an opportunity to express their ideas.  This isn’t Washington saying here’s what’s best; it’s the American people saying here’s what we want.

AmericaSpeakingOut.com will allow a conversation to occur.  It is compatible with Twitter and Facebook, thus bringing those existing online forums into this debate about the direction of our nation.

Rep. Kevin Brady (TX)
