U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference, issued the following statement today regarding the earthquake in Haiti:

Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti during this terrible tragedy. Every American should pray for the families of Haiti and seek opportunities to support organizations providing relief services.

It is essential that the American people, our government and military provide assistance to the American citizens and people of Haiti affected by this catastrophe. I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner to speed relief to all those in need in Haiti and ensure that we do so with compassion and fiscal restraint.
