This morning, Rep. Paul Ryan (WI) presented an opening statement at the House Budget Committee Markup of the fiscal year 2010 budget.
“The Majority has already begun its strenuous claim that this is not the President’s budget – that it dramatically reduces the spending, deficit, and debt levels of the Administration fiscal plan. But in fact, when you examine the real elements of the budget – especially its reserve funds and reconciliation instructions – this really is the President’s high-cost, big-government agenda in camouflage….
“Today, America is at a critical juncture in our history – brought about by a financial crisis and a deep recession that are hurting the American people. But instead of focusing on solving the problem, this budget exploits it to justify a huge expansion in government.”
