Guest Blog post by Rep. John Carter (TX)
On Wednesday night, we will compare Rep. Louie Gohmert’s (TX) Tax Holiday Plan with the Rangel-Geithner Alternative, as our latest edition of my House Accountability Project.
Rep. Gohmert thinks all Americans should take a couple months off from federal taxes to help their budgets and the overall economy -- a great idea.
However, Secretary Geithner and Chairman Rangel, in a stunning display of economic foresight and ingenuity, have beaten us Republicans to the punch. They've already taken their holidays, without waiting for Congress to do a darn thing. Geithner took a four-year hiatus, while Chairman Rangel was on the beach for a solid two decades.
All our friend Louie Gohmert asks is a lousy two months. Surely we can do that for regular American taxpayers.
Join the fun tomorrow night to support Gohmert's tax holiday plan -- you deserve it.
