Rep. Dave Reichert (WA) and Wally Herger (CA) know that the self-employed make up a large chunk of American workers. That's why the men have come together on a bipartisan bill to promote tax fairness for these individuals. An unfair tax on health insurance premiums exists and the new legislation would help close to 21 million Americans nationwide.

"It levels the playing field for our country's job creators at a critical time when our economy is struggling, small businesses are struggling and families are more worried about the cost of health insurance," Reichert said in a press release.

As it stands, companies are able to make deductions that the self employed do not. Therefore, self employed workers end up dishing out $1850 per year.
