The White House Website of "No"

House Republican Leader John Boehner, in a Twitter post today, wonders why the White House YouTube channel does not allow comments or responses.

Recently, President Obama said "I welcome and encourage proposals and improvements form both Democrats and Republicans in the coming days."

However, when the Boehner office attempted to post a video response by Boehner on the White House channel, they received the following message: "You cannot post responses to this video."

Nick Schaper, in Boehner's office, writes:

The promise of social media lies in its ability to connect people and start a conversation.  While the Obama administration has received much praise for its use of the web, it’s becoming clear that they intend to have a very one-sided conversation: no YouTube responses, no comments on the White House “blog”, and no Twitter.

If the President welcomes criticism and suggestions, he ought to open the lines of communication.
