On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, the House is scheduled to consider S.Con.Res. 10, a resolution authorizing the use of Emancipation Hall in the Capitol Visitor Center for an event to celebrate the birthday of King Kamehameha,under a suspension of the rules. S.Con.Res. 10 authorizes the use of Emancipation Hall in the Capitol Visitor Center for an event to celebrate the birthday of King Kamehameha of Hawaii on June 9, 2013.
King Kamehameha lived from 1782-1819 and was the first to unite the Hawaiian Islands and established the Kingdom of Hawaii.
In the 112th Congress, the House passed similar resolutions, H.Con.Res. 105 and S.Con.Res. 16, in 2012 and 2011 respectively.
