On Tuesday, June 21, 2011, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 771, under a suspension of the rules requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage. H.R. 771 was introduced by Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) on February 17, 2011, and was referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

This bill would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1081 Elbel Road in Schertz, Texas, as the “Schertz Veterans Post Office.”

The city of Schertz, Texas boasts a military heritage. It is located in Guadalupe County, which is home to between 25,000 and 50,000 veterans, and also sits near Randolph Air Force Base.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
