H.Res. 917 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, March 22, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) on November 18, 2009.

H.Res. 917 would resolve that the House of Representatives:

  • "Recognizes the Florida Keys Scenic Highway on the occasion of its designation as an All-American Road by the U.S. Department of Transportation; and
  • "Congratulates those residents of the Florida Keys who participated in the effort to support this designation."

According to the resolution's findings, established by Congress in 1991, the National Scenic Byways program is a collaborative effort to help recognize, preserve, and enhance selected roads throughout the United States.
