H.Res. 1571 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. Illeana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) on July 7, 2010.

H.Res. 1571 would resolve that the House of Representatives acknowledges and congratulates Miami Dade College on the occasion of its 50th anniversary of academic excellence and service to the residents of the state of Florida.

According to the resolution’s findings, Miami Dade College opened its doors in 1960 as an institute of higher learning for the residents of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
