H.Res. 1442 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. John J. Duncan Jr. (R-TN) on June 15, 2010.

H.Res. 1442 would resolve that the House of Representatives:

  • “Supports the goals and ideals of United States Military History Month; and
  • “Encourages the President to issue a proclamation to emphasize the importance of United States Military History Month.”

According to the resolution’s findings, November would be an appropriate month to designate as United States Military History Month.  State legislatures and assemblies have been requested to issue proclamations designating November as United States Military History month and to encourage students to study this subject and participate in Veterans Day activities.
