H.Res. 1385 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Ike Skelton (D-MO) on May 20, 2010.

H.Res. 1385 would resolve that the House of Representatives:

  • "Recognizes and honors the courage and sacrifice of the members of the Armed Forces and veterans and thanks such members and veterans for their service;
  • "Urges all Americans to recognize and honor the courage and sacrifice of the members of the Armed Forces and veterans and thank such members and veterans for their service."

May is commonly known as National Military Appreciation Month. All Americans, and many hundreds of millions of people around the world, owe their freedom to the courage, service, and sacrifice of members of the Armed Forces and veterans.
