H.Res. 1261 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Wednesday, May 12, 2009, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) on April 15, 2010.

H.Res.1261 would resolve that the House of Representatives:
• "Supports the goals and ideals of National Nurses Week, as founded by the American Nurses Association;
• "Acknowledges the importance of quality higher education in nursing, including baccalaureate and graduate programs, to meet the needs of one of the Nation's fastest growing labor fields; and
• "Supports the nurse capacity initiatives for institutions of higher education included in the Higher Education Opportunity Act."

H.Res.1261 would resolve that the House of Representatives:
