H.Res. 1213 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH) on March 24, 2010.
H.Res. 1213 would resolve that the House of Representatives:
• "Supports the ideals of National Lab Day;
• "Calls upon the Office of Science and Technology Policy and the National Science Foundation to continue fostering partnerships such as those involved in National Lab Day; and
• "Encourages scientists, volunteers, and educators to participate in National Lab Day."
According to the resolution's findings, schools and educators across the country will celebrate the first National Lab Day during the first week of May at a time of their own choosing.
