H.Res. 1142 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Thomas Petri (R-WI) on March 4, 2010.
H.Res. 1142 would resolve that the House of Representatives:
• "Congratulates Silver Lake College for 75 years of service as an undergraduate institution of higher education; and
• "Commends Silver Lake College for providing education and training to the people of Wisconsin for over 75 years."
According to the resolution's findings, the State of Wisconsin issued the charter designating Silver Lake College, then named Holy Family College, as an undergraduate institution of higher education in 1935.
