H.Res. 1125 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Monday, March 22, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Thomas Perriello (D-VA) on March 2, 2010.

H.Res. 1125 would resolve that the House of Representatives:

  • "Supports the goals and ideals of National Public Works Week;
  • "Recognizes and celebrates the 50th anniversary of National Public Works Week; and
  • "Urges citizens and communities throughout the United States to join with representatives of the Federal Government in activities and ceremonies that are designed to pay tribute to the public works professionals of the United States and to recognize the substantial contributions that public works professionals make to the United States."

According to the resolution's findings, public works professionals are observing National Public Works Week from May 16 through 22, 2010. Members may be concerned that the resolution's findings assert that "stimulus" funding for transportation construction projects was transparent, accountable, and successful, and lists the number of projects underway and jobs supposedly created by the stimulus.
