H.Res. 1047 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH) on January 27, 2010.
H.Res. 1047 would resolve that the House of Representatives:
• "Commends the Ohio State University Buckeye football team for its victory in the 2010 Rose Bowl;
• "Congratulates Coach Jim Tressel, winner of five Big Ten titles; and
• "Recognizes the accomplishments of the Ohio State Buckeye football team, which has played in more BCS Bowl Games than any other team in college football."
Ohio State defeated favored Oregon 26-17 in the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2010.
