H.R. 6012 is expected to be considered on the House floor on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, under a suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote to pass. Rep. Space (D-OH) introduced H.R. 6012 on July 30, 2010, and it was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
H.R. 6012 would require the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to do the following: (1) review utilization of diabetes screening benefits to identify and address any existing problems with regard to uptake and utilization and related data collection mechanisms and (2) make recommendations on outreach activities to ensure awareness among seniors and providers of diabetes screening benefits. The Secretary of HHS would be required to submit a report annually to Congress.
The purpose of H.R. 6012 is to reduce the number of undiagnosed seniors with diabetes or prediabetes.
As of publication, the Congressional Budget Office had not released a score of H.R. 6012.
