H.R. 5395 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Monday, June 28, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. John Mica (R-FL) on April 15, 2010.

H.R. 5395 would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 151 North Maitland Avenue in Maitland, Florida, as the “Paula Hawkins Post Office Building.”

 

Paula Hawkins was an American politician from Florida. She is to date the only woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Florida.  She was the first woman ever elected to a full term in the Senate without a family connection.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
