H.R. 4667 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Monday, March 22, 2010, under suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Tom Perriello (D-VA) on February 23, 2010. The Committee on Veterans Affairs approved the bill on March 10, 2010, by voice vote.

H.R. 4667 would increase the amounts paid to veterans for disability compensation and to their survivors for dependency and indemnity compensation by the same cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) payable to Social Security recipients. The increase would take effect on December 1, 2010, and the resulting adjustment would be rounded to the next lower dollar.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that implementing H.R. 4667 would increase spending for those programs by $50 million in Fiscal Year 2011.
