H.R. 3243 is expected to be considered on the House floor on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, under a suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage. This legislation was introduced by Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD) on July 16, 2009.
The bill would allow federal firefighters to change or add hours worked under a qualified trade-of-time arrangement at their own discretion without effecting eligibility for, or the amount, of any overtime pay.
‘Qualified trade-of-time arrangement’ means an arrangement under which two firefighters who are employed by the same agency agree, solely at their option and with approval of their employing agency, to substitute for one another during scheduled work hours.
There is currently no CBO score for H.R. 3243.
