H.Con.Res. 285 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) on June 10, 2010.

H.Con.Res. 285 would resolve that the Congress:

  • “Recognizes the important role that fathers play in the lives of their children and families; and
  • “Supports the goals and ideals of the Year of the Father.”

According to the resolution's findings, the 100th anniversary of Father's Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington, on June 20, 2010.
