H.Con.Res. 226 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Monday, July 26, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. Bob Filner (D-CA) on January 13, 2010.

H.Con.Res. 226 would resolve that Congress supports the observance of “Spirit of ‘45 Day.”

According to the resolution’s findings, the second Sunday in August has been proposed as “Spirit of ‘45 Day” to commemorate the anniversary of the end of World War II on August 14, 1945.
