H.Res. 487 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The resolution was introduced by Rep. Mike J. Rogers (R-MI) on May 21, 2009.

H.Res. 487 would resolve that the House of Representatives recognizes the 100th anniversary of the State News.

The State News, which was founded in 1909 by students of Michigan Agricultural College as the Holcad, became the Michigan State News in 1925 and was spun off into its own nonprofit corporation in 1971, celebrates its centennial.
