According to findings listed in the resolution, more than 50 national reading organizations have partnered with the National Education Associate (NEA) to utilize March 2, 2009, as a day to celebrate reading and the birth of Theodor Geisel-better known as Dr. Seuss. Each of the last 12 years, the NEA has sponsored the Read Across America Program, which focuses on encouraging and motivating children to read. The 2009 Read Across America Program will focus on encouraging children and families to read the works of Dr. Seuss.
