H.R. 402 is being considered under suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. John J. Duncan Jr. (R-TN) January 1, 2009.
H.R. 402 would designate the Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Knoxville, Tennessee, as the `William C. Tallent Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic.'
William Tallent dedicated his life to veterans in Knoxville, Tenn., by advocating for a local veteran's nursing home, and serving on several local veteran's boards. William Tallent, while serving in World War II, was captured by German forces and taken captive for six months, and he eventually received two purple hearts and a bronze star for his service.
