William Tallent dedicated his life to veterans in Knoxville, Tenn., by advocating for a local veteran's nursing home, and serving on several local veteran's boards. William Tallent, while serving in World War II, was captured by German forces and taken captive for six months, and he eventually received two purple hearts and a bronze star for his service.
