H.R.3193 is being considered under suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Thomas J. Rooney (R-FL) July 13, 2009.

H.R. 3193 would designate the United States courthouse under construction at 101 South United States Route 1 in Fort Pierce, Florida, as the "Alto Lee Adams, Sr., United States Courthouse."

Alto Lee Adams Sr. served as a justice on the Florida Supreme Court from 1940 to 1951 and from 1967 to 1968.  After Florida voters adopted an amendment which created a seventh justice in the State Supreme Court in 1940, Adams was appointed to the court.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
