The House is expected to consider H.R. 2947 in the House on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage. This legislation was introduced by Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) on June 18, 2009.
H.R. 20947 would make technical corrections to the following Acts: (1) the Securities Act of 1933; (2) the Securities Exchange Act of 1934; (3) the Trust Indenture Act of 1939; (4) the Investment Company Act of 1940; and (5) the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. The bill would also amend the following statutes to make conforming amendments for the repeal of the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935 (PUHCA): (1) the Securities Exchange Act of 1934; (2) the Trust Indenture Act of 1939; (3) the Investment Company Act of 1940; and (4) the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
