Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers is serving her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives representing the people of Washington's Fifth Congressional District. In Congress, McMorris Rodgers promotes policies to give wider opportunities to families and small businesses. She works to keep taxes down, strongly supports our troops and veterans, and works to improve access to quality, affordable health care.
 
McMorris Rodgers currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the Natural Resources Committee, and the Education and Labor Committee, where she serves as ranking member on the Workforce Protections Subcommittee. In addition to serving as Republican Conference Vice Chairman, she is Co-Chair of the bipartisan Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus. The Caucus works to support legislation that would improve Down syndrome research, education and treatment and promote public policies that would enhance the quality of life for those with Down syndrome.
 
Prior to coming to Congress, McMorris Rodgers served the people of Eastern Washington as the 7th District Washington State Representative for ten years. She was elected by her peers to serve as House Republican leader, the top leadership post in the House Republican Caucus.
 
She is married to Brian Rodgers, a retired 26 year active-duty Navy Commander. They have a son, Cole, who was born in April 2007.
